“The Boat”

The Heart of Man Week 2

Have you ever called God “Abba” or “Papa?” Try it right now.

How does it make you feel to address God as your Father–your “Dad?”

How does it affect the way you think about God? The Boat represents being set out to see and facing the endless choices and possibilities in life, including the many ways of viewing God. The Boat could also represent isolation, being set adrift–the orphan stronghold.

Key Verse: “For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, ‘Abba! Father!’” (Romans 8:15 NASB).

“Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’” (Galatians 4:6 NASB).

There is a 3rd passage in Scripture that uses the word “Abba” for Father, which we will take a look at next week.
